MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's rowing team travels to Miami, Fla., on Saturday for spring training to prepare for their upcoming season.
The week of training, from March 13-19, in Florida will give the Mountaineers a chance to train in warm water for the first time in 2004 as well as giving them a chance to work with four other schools: Miami, Navy, Loyola-Marymount and Barry.
"We will be rowing twice daily, working on gaining more boat speed as we head into the spring season," says head coach Nancy LaRocque.
Coach LaRocque also says that it will give her a chance to try different line-ups in the boats to see which ones work best.
"It will be nice to row in warm weather, but this isn't your typical spring break," says La Rocque.
The rowing team begins their 2004 season on April 3, when the travel to the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego, Calif.
