MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's tennis team (1-1, 0-1) is set to travel to St. Bonaventure, N.Y., where they will play the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Feb. 7, at noon.
The Mountaineers are ready to bounce back following a 7-0 setback to No. 22 Miami on Feb. 1. West Virginia's best effort of the day came from senior Courtney Howell who fell to Miami's Staci Stevens (6-4, 6-4) in a back and forth affair.
"Courtney came out as our fourth seed and competed extremely well against a great tennis player," coach Dan Silverstein said. "I'm really proud of the leadership she exemplified last weekend."
Senior Jennifer Watkins, sophomores Melissa Day and Raynie Theis and freshmen Ashley Constantine and Kelly Walsh will also look to rebound and get back on the winning track.
"Our match against Miami served as an excellent learning experience for our young team," Silverstein said. "It will only help us improve down the road. We are looking forward to getting back out on the court on Saturday in hopes of getting back on the right track."
