MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University gymnastics team (9-3-1) travels to East Lansing, Mich., for a 7 p.m., meet on Saturday, Feb. 28 with host Michigan State (8-9) and Ohio State (7-3-1).
The Spartans are the nation's 22nd-ranked team and are coming off a record-setting performance last weekend at Pitt. The Mountaineers own a 7-6-1 all-time record against Michigan State, but fell to MSU in the last meeting between the schools in the 2002 season opener.
Ohio State and West Virginia meet for the second time this season. Earlier in the year, WVU defeated the Buckeyes at the Coliseum by a 196.25-195.3 count. OSU battled to a 195.95-195.95 tie with rival Penn State in its last meet.
West Virginia looks to continue its winning ways in Saturday's competition. The Mountaineers are 5-1 in their last three contests, falling only at Penn State in that span.
Head coach Linda Burdette enters the tri-meet with a 496-201-3 overall record. A sweep of Michigan State and Ohio State would move her within two wins of becoming only the third coach in WVU history to have won 500 contests.
