MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - WVU head men's soccer coach Mike Seabolt announced today the addition of two players to his 2004 roster.
High school standout Pat Carroll signed his letter of intent, making him the third high school recruit to commit to WVU for next season. The Springfield, Va., native helped West Springfield High School to two soccer state championships in four years with the team, as the squad earned a second place national ranking in 2001 and a fourth place national ranking in 2002. In his junior and senior seasons Carroll earned a spot on the Patriot District second team.
"Pat is an impact player and a great kid," said Seabolt.
Carroll brings with him a solid soccer bloodline as well. His oldest brother Brian plays for D.C. United of the MLS and the U-23 US Olympic soccer team, while his other brother Jeff is currently a sophomore midfielder at St. John's.
"We're hoping Pat can step in and prove he is the best of the Carroll brothers," said Seabolt.
Coming to Morgantown as a transfer is rising senior Jason Miller. The Lakeland, Fla., native spent his three previous seasons at the University of South Florida as a defender for the Bulls. Before college, Miller was an all-state soccer player in Florida as well as a three-year member of the Region III Olympic Development team.
"Already Jason has shown that he can be a leader on the field both with his voice and application in game situations," said Seabolt.
