Swimming: Day Two Results

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The West Virginia University men's swimming and diving team held onto second place, while the women dropped one spot to sixth place during day two of the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Friday, Dec. 3.
The Mountaineer men increased their point total to 798, trailing only Notre Dame who has 1,784 points. The women fell to sixth place with 567 and currently sit six points behind Wisconsin-Green Bay.
WVU's relays once again scored high as Rick Mann, Felipe Cunha, Pedro Pinto and Matt Drozd combined for a second place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.67.
Freshman Pablo Marmolejo scored high again for the Mountaineers as well. Marmolejo took first in the 400 IM with a time of 3:57.08, more than a second in front of his closest opponent.
Senior Pedro Pinto took second in a close 100 butterfly final. Pinto finished the race in 49.41, just behind Irish swimmer Tim Kegelman.
As for the women Tina Gabrilo finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.16. The race marked the second time in the meet that Gabrilo has earned a runner-up in an individual event.
The women's 200 medley relay also was very competitive. Chelsea Ademski, Megan Carlson, Anne Tierney and Erin Tudor finished the race in 1:49.88.
