MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University women's soccer player Ashley Banks has recently earned All-America honors from the NSCAA for her performance during her senior year of high school.
Playing at W.T. Woodson High in Fairfax, Va., soccer was a spring sport for Banks and is the reason why the announcement follows her freshman year of college.
At WVU in 2004, Banks was the Mountaineers' third leading scorer, scoring eight goals and adding eight assists for 24 points. She helped West Virginia to a 15-6 overall record and its fifth-straight NCAA tournament appearance. Banks earned second team all-conference honors, the first WVU freshman to be named to an all-conference team aside from the all-rookie squad, and was named BIG EAST co-rookie of the year.
