Football: Jones Earns CFN All-America Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University junior defensive back Adam Pac-Man Jones was named to the Collegefootballnews.com All-America defensive first-team team, it was announced today.
Jones is one of four defensive backs listed to the All-America defensive team, along with Georgia’s Thomas Davis, Auburn’s Carlos Rogers and Michigan’s Ernest Shazor.
Jones produced a team-best 69 tackles to go with three interceptions, two sacks, three tackles for losses and seven pass break ups in leading the Mountaineers to an 8-3 record and an invitation to play Florida State in the 2005 Toyota Gator Bowl.
Wrote Collegefootballnews.com: “Jones was the nation’s surest tackling cornerback leading the Mountaineers with 69 stops to go along with his shut-down duties on every team’s number one receiver. With tremendous speed and quickness, Jones was also a game-breaking kicker returner.”
Jones was lists as an honorable mention All-America as a kick returner. Junior Chris Henry was also was cited as an honorable mention wide receiver.
Previously Jones was named Big East special teams player of the year as well as making the league’s first team as a defensive back.
