MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - For the fourth time in four years, a West Virginia University women’s soccer player has earned All-America accolades from the sport’s coaches association, the NSCAA.
Senior forward Laura Kane was named a third team All-American for her performance during her final year as a Mountaineer.
Kane, a native of Pottstown, Pa., led West Virginia to a 15-6-0 overall record in 2004. A large part of an offense that scored the second most goals in school history (51) this past season, she helped the Mountaineers to their fifth-straight appearance in the NCAA tournament with eight goals and nine assists for 25 points on the year.
Her stellar career includes twice being named to the BIG EAST first team, a NSCAA Scholar All-America honor in 2003, two all-region recognitions, a place on the BIG EAST all-rookie team (2001) and a third place spot on the WVU career goals, assists and points lists.
Kane now joins former Mountaineers Katie Barnes (2001), Chrissie Abbott (2002, 2003) and Lisa Stoia (2002, 2003) on the WVU women’s soccer All-American list.
