MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team hits the road for the first time since Oct. 10 for a pair of BIG EAST matches on Nov. 6-7 against Seton Hall and Rutgers.
The Mountaineers (17-10, 3-3) battle Seton Hall at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, before taking on Rutgers at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7.
WVU’s 3-3 BIG EAST record is the fifth best mark in the conference. Pitt (6-0), Notre Dame (6-0), Syracuse (5-1) and Connecticut (5-1) are currently ahead of the Mountaineers in the conference standings. In order to qualify for the BIG EAST tournament, WVU must finish the season in the top four.
Seton Hall (9-19, 2-4) enters Saturday’s match having won three of its last four matches. The Pirates have won their last two BIG EAST contests with victories over Boston College (3-1) and St. John’s (3-2).
Rutgers (13-9, 1-5) has struggled since winning nine consecutive matches earlier this season. The Scarlet Knights have lost three straight to Boston College (2-3), Connecticut (0-3) and St. John’s (0-3) and play host to Pitt on Friday night. Their only BIG EAST victory this season came against intra-state rival Seton Hall by a 3-0 score.
