The NCAA Second Round match between West Virginia and Texas is in a 30 minute lightning delay with 36 minutes left in the contest. Without any further lightning strikes, the match will restart at approximately 3:45 p.m. (Eastern).
The Mountaineers and the Longhorns are tied 1-1.
West Virginia got on the board early when a 20-yard shot from senior defender Ashley Weimer deflected off a Texas defender to the feet of sophomore Cathy Abel. Abel walked in her first goal of the year to give the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the match.
Texas evened the scored at 1-1 with 5:30 to play in the first half when connecting passes from Ashley Foster and Nicole Breger freed Kelsey Carpenter. Carpenter beat WVU goalkeeper Lana Bannerman to the far side for the game-tying score.
The winner of today's match will advance to the Sweet 16 and face the winner of the Portland versus Colorado match being played today in Portland, Ore.
