MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men's soccer team has been ranked No. 17 in the country this week by Soccer America.
The Mountaineers join No. 17 Seton Hall and No. 21 Connecticut as the remaining ranked teams left in the BIG EAST tournament. Both the Pirates and Huskies rankings are in the NSCAA/adidas poll.
WVU also moved up to No. 7 in the NSCAA South Atlantic regional rankings, two spots ahead of fellow BIG EAST member Georgetown.
West Virginia is coming off of one of its biggest wins in school history when it upset No. 11 St. John's 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Saturday, Nov. 6, in Jamaica, N.Y. The loss ended a 17-game home winning streak for the Red Storm and marked only the second time in school history St. John's lost a home match at Belson Stadium since it opened in 2002.
The Mountaineers continue their hunt for the BIG EAST championship on Friday, Nov. 12, when they face No. 21 Connecticut in the conference semifinals at Rutgers' Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. Kickoff is 5 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live over the Internet on Yahoo! Sports and can also be followed by live stats on MSNsportsNET.com. A taped delay of the match can be seen on College Sports Television at 4:30 p.m.
