Fans and media will get their first glimpse of the 2005 Mountaineers when they host a free intrasquad scrimmage, beginning on Saturday at 4 p.m.
“This is another opportunity to put our guys in competitive situations,” says coach Greg Van Zant. “We use this time to find out more about our guys and it gives baseball fans a chance to see us in action. We attempt to make it as game-like as possible.”
WVU will play two more scrimmages as part of an expanded weekend of live competition. The Mountaineers play at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10, and Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 5 p.m.
The Mountaineers will be split into two squads with seniors Lee Fritz and Travis D'Amico serving as game captains for the three-game series. Both veterans held a live draft to select their teams and will conduct a short practice on Saturday morning.
