Football: Henry Biletnikoff Semifinalist

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University junior wide receiver Chris Henry is one of 11 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award presented to college football’s best wide receiver, it was announced Thursday.
Henry, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound Belle Chasse, La., resident leads the Mountaineers in receiving with 35 catches for 528 yards and nine touchdowns through seven games so far this year. Henry ranks 42nd in the country this week in receiving yards per game (74.43) and is also 42nd in total receiving yards. Henry’s nine TD catches is tied for second in the country with UAB’s Roddy White behind Purdue’s Taylor Stubblefield with 11.
Other semifinalists include: Purdue’s Stubblefield, Oklahoma’s Mark Clayton, Michigan’s Braylon Edwards, Ohio State’s Santonio Holmes, Colorado State’s David Anderson, Arizona State’s Derek Hagan, UNLV’s Earvin Johnson, Hawai’’s Chad Owens, Ball State’s Dante Ridgeway and South Carolina’s Troy Williamson.
Three finalists will be named Nov. 15 and the winner will be announced in December at the annual ESPN awards show at Walt Disney World and feted at a February banquet in Tallahassee, Fla.
Last year Pittsburgh wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald won the award.
