MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team plays host to BIG EAST rivals Villanova and Georgetown on Saturday, Oct. 23, and Sunday, Oct. 24, respectively at the WVU Coliseum.
The Mountaineers (14-8, 1-1) host the Wildcats at 2 p.m. Saturday before taking on the Hoyas at 2 p.m. Sunday.
West Virginia is coming off a loss for only the second time since Sept. 24. The Mountaineers fell 3-0 to Pitt on Sunday, Oct. 17, after defeating Providence by a 3-0 count on Friday, Oct. 15.
The Wildcats (5-13, 0-3) enter Saturday’s contest in search of their first BIG EAST victory of the season. Villanova, who has yet to play a conference match at home, has fallen to Connecticut (1-3), Boston College (2-3) and Georgetown (0-3).
Georgetown (13-8, 1-2) comes to the Coliseum having won five of its last seven matches including a 3-0 victory over Villanova on Saturday, Oct. 16. The Hoyas are undefeated in conference home matches (1-0) but are still looking for their first conference road victory (0-2) after falling to Boston College (2-3) and Connecticut (0-3).
WVU is in the midst of a seven match home stand that began with last Friday’s victory over Providence and ends with a Nov. 3 match against Youngstown State.
