Wrestling: Mountaineers Top EWL Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The 17th-ranked West Virginia University wrestling team has eight wrestlers ranked in the latest Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) poll as released by the league website.
Three Mountaineers received No. 1 rankings in their respective weight classes. Sophomore Matt Lebe (157), along with juniors Greg Jones (184) and Matt Daddino (197), all claimed the top spot.
A pair of WVU grapplers were given No. 2 rankings. Sophomore Seth Lisa (133) and senior Joe Clarke (141) both established the number two position.
Other wrestlers who earned a top-four ranking include freshman Zac Fryling (165), ranking third at 165-pounds. Senior Casey Brewster (125) and sophomore Lanfer Simpson (285) each were tabbed fourth.
The eight Mountaineers ranked were the most among EWL institutions. Pitt, West Virginia’s next opponent, had the second most wrestlers ranked with seven. The neighboring rivals clash at 8 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 6, at the WVU Coliseum.
