Women's Basketball: WVU Pair Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A pair of West Virginia University women’s basketball players were honored by the Big East Conference this week.
Junior point guard Yolanda Paige shared Big East player of the week honors with Georgetown’s Rebekkah Brunson and freshman forward Meg Bulger claimed Big East rookie of the week honors.
Paige averaged a double-double of 16 points and 10.5 assists per game and shot 68.4 percent from the floor in a pair of WVU wins over Marshall and Syracuse. She scored 19 points and handed out 12 assists against Marshall and contributed 13 points and 9 assists in a league win Saturday at Syracuse. Paige played all 40 minutes in both games and leads the Big East in assists with an average of 7.9 per game.
Bulger wins the award for the third time this season after averaging 17 points and 5 rebounds per game in West Virginia’s two games last week. Bulger recorded her first career double-double at Syracuse, scoring a season-high 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Bulger had 16 points on Wednesday against Marshall.
West Virginia, now 13-5, 4-2, returns to the court Wednesday for an important conference game against Georgetown. The Hoyas are 9-8 overall and 3-4 in Big East play. Georgetown dropped a 67-64 decision at Rutgers on Sunday and counts impressive conference victories over Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.
Wednesday’s game will tip off at 7 pm.
