Baseball: Former Pitcher Joins Top League

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Former West Virginia University baseball player Dustin Nippert was recently selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks to play for the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League.
Nippert, a right-handed pitcher, notched a 6-4 record this past season with the South Bend Silver Hawks, a single A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He appeared in 17 games, striking out 96 batters, while posting a 2.82 ERA.
The Arizona Fall League begins its 12th season on Sept. 30 for baseball’s elite prospects. The league continues to be the place where top prospects go to play baseball after the regular season is over.
The Beallsville, Ohio, native posted a 4.83 ERA in 12 appearances for WVU in 2002.
