Women's Cross Country: WVU Finishes 1st

The West Virginia University women's cross country team defeated 14 schools en route to its second team title of the season on Saturday when it won the 6,000-meter Lock Haven Invitational at the West Branch Cross Country Course in Lock Haven, Pa.
Every West Virginia runner finished in the top 14, with six cracking the top ten. The Mountaineers dominated the individual top seven, placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th, and finishing with 16 overall points.
Leading the way for WVU again was junior All-American Megan Metcalfe, who won her second individual title in as many matches. The Edmonton, Alberta, native, finished first out of 38 competitors with a time of (21:16.06).
Rounding out the individual top four was West Virginia's Tara Struyk (21:20.01), Devon Plesuk (22:20.60) and Jennifer Kemp (22:26.25). Two more Mountaineers cracked the top ten with Jennifer Davis (22:38.83) finishing sixth and Rachel Carden (22:43.72) finishing seventh.
Sophomore Susan Davis finished off the WVU effort by crossing the line at 14th with a time of (23:29.09).
West Virginia (2-0) will return to action next Saturday when it travels to Lehigh University to take part in the Paul Short Invitational.
