MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - For the second consecutive week, West Virginia women's soccer forward Chrissie Abbott has been named the BIG EAST offensive player of the week.
The Mountaineers' senior captain scored four goals in two matches last week, one of which made her West Virginia's all-time leader with 46.
A North Olmsted, Ohio, native, Abbott scored two goals in WVU's 3-1 victory over Miami on Friday, Sept. 12. On Sunday, Sept. 14, Abbott became the school-record holder with a goal just 30 seconds before the end of the first half against St. John's. Then, she netted the game-winner off a header with only five minutes remaining in the cross-divisional contest.
On the season, Abbott leads the Mountaineers with seven goals and one assist for 15 points in six games.
West Virginia is back in action on Friday, Sept. 19, against Connecticut. The match is set for 7 p.m., at Morrone Stadium.
