MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University football coach Rich Rodriguez is one of five inductees in the third class of the Curtis Elam Athletic Hall of Fame at Glenville State College.
Rodriguez will be inducted on Sunday, October 5, in ceremonies at the Glenville campus ballroom. Other members of the Class of 2003 are record-setting wide receiver Chris George (who played for Rodriguez), golf standout Michael Barrett and multi-sport competitors Jack Tennant and Pam Minigh.
Rodriguez was head coach at Glenville from 1990-96, posting a 43-28-2 record while winning four consecutive WVIAC championships and advancing to the 1993 NAIA national championship game. The Pioneers led the nation in scoring and total offense in 1993 and 1994, and Rodriguez' players set five national career records for Division II. Named the WVIAC coach of the year in 1993 and 1994, Rodriguez was selected as NAIA national coach of the year in 1994 and coached three players – Jed Drenning, Chris George and Scott Otis – who were WVIAC players of the year.
