Women's Basketball: '03-04 Schedule Released

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University athletic director Ed Pastilong today announced the 2003-04 women's basketball schedule.
The Mountaineers will face nine opponents that qualified for the NCAA tournament and a total of 11 teams that played in post season action last year. Five teams on the schedule finished last season ranked in the top 25 in at least one poll.
WVU opens the season hosting Bucknell on Friday, November 21. It is one of just four home non-conference games on the Mountaineer docket this season.
WVU will play a total of 12 non-conference matchups highlighted by the Mountaineers' trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands to compete in the Paradise Jam tournament on St. Thomas Island November 27-29. There the Mountaineers will face Georgia Tech, James Madison and Southwest Missouri State. The Lady Bears and the Yellow Jackets both qualified for the NCAA tournament last season.
WVU opens its BIG EAST schedule with a home contest against rival Pitt, Saturday, Jan. 3. West Virginia's home-and-home opponents in BIG EAST action this season are Connecticut, Pitt and Syracuse.
Game Times will be released in October. The first day of practice is October 18.
