MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University senior women's soccer player Chrissie Abbott has been named to the SoccerBuzz preseason All-America team.
Abbott, a forward from North Olmstead, Ohio, is one of 12 members of the preseason squad. Last season she earned SoccerBuzz first-team All-America honors and was a player of the year finalist. On her way to becoming the BIG EAST offensive player of the year, Abbott scored a school-record 20 goals and dished out seven assists for a team-high 47 points.
In addition to her SoccerBuzz honors in 2002, Abbott was also a Soccer America college MVP and an NSCAA first-team All-American.
She is one of two BIG EAST players who made the SoccerBuzz preseason Elite 12 team. Carli Lloyd, a midfielder from Rutgers, joined Abbott.
The Mountaineers kick off their 2003 season on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 1 p.m., when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on the Virginia Cavaliers.
