Women's Soccer: Preseason Rankings

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's soccer team was tabbed 18th in the preseason poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) late Tuesday evening.
The Mountaineers finished the 2002 season ranked 12th in the NSCAA poll after a stellar 18-3-1 campaign.
Five of West Virginia's 2003 opponents are also members of the preseason Top 25, including BIG EAST rivals Connecticut (8) and Notre Dame (10). Regional foes Penn State (7) and Virginia (11) along with Tennessee (14) complete the five.
WVU plays host to Marshall in a preseason scrimmage tonight at 7:15 p.m. The game will be held at Morgantown High School.
The Mountaineers open their season on Saturday, Aug. 30, against Virginia at 1 p.m., in Charlottesville.
