Rowing: Abernethy Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University women's rower Kate Abernethy has recently been named to the Verizon Academic All-America women's at-large first-team.
Abernethy was selected from a core of female athletes that participate in any of the following sports: crew, gymnastics, skiing, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, water polo, field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, golf and rifle.
A senior elementary education major from Princeton, N.J., Abernethy has a 4.0 GPA.
A two-year member of the rowing team, she is also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, a member of Gamma Beta Phi and a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
Abernethy became eligible for this honor when she was named to the Verizon Academic All-District II first team on May 22.
