MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Coming off one of the program's biggest victories, the West Virginia University women's rowing team will travel to Camden, N.J., to participate in the Knect Cup on Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13. The first race begins at 7 a.m., each day on the Cooper River.
Last weekend, West Virginia's varsity eight won the championship of the prestigious Cal Cup at the San Diego Crew Classic. The Mountaineers beat out 20 other teams to achieve this honor.
"Last weekend was a huge win for our varsity eight," says coach Nancy LaRocque. "We are hoping to build on that success this weekend."
For the first time this year, the Mountaineers' second varsity eight, novice eight and novice four will race.
"The whole team has been training hard all winter long in anticipation for the spring racing season to arrive," said assistant coach Jim Mitchell. "This is an excellent race to see where we are as a team against some good competition."
BIG EAST schools that will be participating in the Knect Cup include Boston College, Connecticut, Georgetown and Villanova.
