Women's Tennis: WVU Heads South

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's tennis team will travel to North Carolina for a pair of matches against UNC Charlotte on Friday, March 7, and Western Carolina on Saturday, March 8.
The Mountaineers are coming off a 6-1 victory against Lehigh which improved their record to 2-6 on the year. The duo of senior Anna Marie Underwood and junior Jennifer Watkins holds a 7-1 doubles record for the season.
WVU will face UNC Charlotte at the D.L.Phillips Tennis Complex in Charlotte, N.C., beginning at 2:30 p.m. The 49ers are 4-5 and enter the match after a 4-3 loss to South Florida.
The Mountaineers will play Western Carolina at the Reid Gym Courts in Cullowee, N.C. First serve is set for 10 a.m. The Catamounts are 1-3 on the year and suffered a 4-3 loss to Mercer on March 2.
"We are looking forward to these matches against such good competition," said coach Dan Silverstein. "We have a good momentum coming off the Lehigh win and I think that we are finally coming together as a team."
