MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women‘s tennis team will return to BIG EAST action when it hosts St. John’s on Sunday, March 23, at the Mountaineer Tennis Complex. This is West Virginia’s first home match of the season and first serve is set for 11 a.m.
Coming off a 4-3 win over Wyoming, the Mountaineers are 5-8 overall and are 1-3 in the BIG EAST. Senior Anna Marie Underwood needs one more win to raise her career total (singles and doubles) victories to 80 and 26th place on West Virginia’s time career wins list.
St. John’s holds a record of 2-2 and 1-1 in the BIG EAST. The Red Storm are coming off a 4-3 loss against Rutgers.
“Our win over Wyoming will give the girls a lot of confidence heading into conference action,” said coach Dan Silverstein. “If we play as well as we did against Wyoming, I believe we can pull off our first home victory of the year.”
