Track: Completes Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The West Virginia University track team’s multi-event athletes completed competition at the Alabama Relays, held in Sam Bailey Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Friday, March 21.
The top finisher in the decathlon for the Mountaineers was freshman Adam Golembeski, in third place with 5,788 points. The Torrington, Conn., native made a last-ditch effort to pull ahead by winning the last event, the 1,500 meter run, but did not succeed.
Other decathletes for West Virginia were freshman Paul Schwab, who placed fifth with 5,620 points and freshman Chris Sasher, who placed sixth with 5,142 points.
Chris Martland of Belmont won the decathlon with 6,744 points.
On the women’s side in the heptathlon, freshman Nancy Regalbuto placed tenth with 4,126 points and sophomore Mary Greene placed 16th with 3,469 points.
Josie Hahn of Vanderbilt won the heptathlon with 5,143 points.

The Mountaineers return to action next weekend, March 28-29, at the Raleigh Relays.

110 meter high hurdles: 18.00 seconds; Discus: 27.39 meters; Pole vault: 3.25 meters; Javelin: 40.47 meters; 1,500 meter run: 4:44.11
Paul Schwab, Fifth place, 5,620 points:
110 meter high hurdles: 17.82 seconds; Discus: 27.89 meters; Pole vault: 3.45 meters; Javelin: 49.49 meters; 1,500 meter run: 4:48.85
Chris Sasher, Sixth place, 5,142 points:
110 meter high hurdles: 20.40 seconds; Discus: 37.67 meters; Pole vault: 3.25 meters; Javelin: 50.45 meters; 1,500 meter run: 5:08.48
