Women's Tennis: WVU Downs Wyoming

HONOLULU, HAWAII - The West Virginia University women’s tennis team broke a two match losing streak with a win over Wyoming on March 18, at the Central Oahu Regional Park in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Mountaineers defeated the Cowgirls, 4-3.
West Virginia swept all three doubles matches to claim the first point of the match. The pairs of Melissa Day and Raynie Theis, Anna Marie Underwood and Jenny Watkins, and Courtney Howell and Catherine Koontz all picked up victories.
In singles action, Watkins, Theis and Koontz were all victorious.
The Mountaineers improve to 5-8 on the year while the Cowgirls fall to 7-5.
“This was a great win for us and a good way to end our trip,” said coach Dan Silverstein. “I am pleased to head back into BIG EAST play with a win.”
West Virginia returns home for a match against St. Johns on Sunday, March 23, at the Mountaineer Tennis Complex in Morgantown, W.Va. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
