Track: Competes at Tech's Last Chance Qualifier

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The West Virginia University track team saw successful competition on Saturday, March 1, at the Virginia Tech Last Chance Qualifier, in Blacksburg, Va., at the Rector Field House.
Christine Brown finished third in the long jump at 6.10m and seventh in the triple jump at 12.62m. Justin Willyoung finished twelvth in the high jump at 2.00m.
Erik Bennett finished eleventh in the mile in 4:13.80, qualifying him for IC4A's. Ailene Smith finished sixth in the 800 in 2:10.40, qualifying her for ECAC's.
Nick Albanito finished eleventh in the 5,000m in 15:21.85.

"Next weekend will be a huge meet with around 90 teams competing, so it is a big change from the meets we have competed in so far this season" says coach Jeff Huntoon of the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
"We're going to take the athletes that are most fit to compete and shoot for the top 5 in men's and women's competitions.
The Mountaineers return to action next weekend, March 7-9, in Boston, Mass., at the 2003 IC4A/ECAC Championships.
