BLACKSBURG, Va. – West Virginia takes its modest two-game winning streak into Blacksburg, Va., to face Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon.
The Mountaineers (15-10, 4-10) took a critical step toward postseason play with a 77-74 overtime win over Syracuse Wednesday.
Junior Kate Bulger scored a career-high 36 points to lead West Virginia to its fourth conference victory of the season.
West Virginia is in a fight with Providence and Pitt for the last Big East tournament spot.
Virginia Tech (17-8, 8-6) has lost three-straight to Boston College, Villanova and Rutgers, but is 12-1 at home this season.
Earlier this year in Morgantown, Virginia Tech came away with a 55-48 decision. Virginia Tech leads the all-time series 8-4.
