MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University athlete Adam Golembeski won the pentathlon competition with a overall score of 3,507, on Friday, Feb. 7, in day one of the WVU State Farms Games in the WVU Shell Building.
The Torrington, Conn., native won the long jump with a distance of 6.55 meters and the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:56.14 seconds.
West Virginia's Paul Schawb came in second with an overall score 3,310, Pitt's Mike Koping came in third with a score of 3,239 and West Virginia's Chris Sasher came in fourth with a socre of 3,151.
In the women's competition, Amber Williams of Miami (Fla.) Won with a score of 3,529.
West Virginia's Nancy Regalbuto finished second with a score of 3,169.
The remaining finishers were: Pitt's Joelle Ambrose finished third with a score of 3,032, West Virginia's Mary Greene finished fourth with a score of 3,008, West Virginia's Samantha O'Reilly 2,996, Pitt's Raswel Reed finished fifth with a score of 2,767 and Pitt's Justine Wilmot finished seventh with a score of 2,604.
The meet will continue on Saturday, Feb., 8, with field events beginning at 9:30 a.m. and track events at 10:30 a.m.
