MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team (11-7, 0-7) plays host to BIG EAST foe Providence (8-11, 2-6) on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m., at the WVU Coliseum.
The Mountaineers enter the contest looking for their first conference victory of the season and hoping to keep their chances of making the BIG EAST tournament alive.
Overall, West Virginia leads the series with the Friars by a 7-3 count. Most recently, WVU suffered a 75-61 loss to Providence earlier in the season at Alumni Hall. The Mountaineers, however, have won three of the last five meetings between the two schools.
Providence travels to Morgantown looking to break a four-game losing streak. The Friars have lost their last four conference bouts, falling to St. John's, at Seton Hall, Rutgers and at Virginia Tech.
The Mountaineers return action following Wednesday night's game on Saturday, Feb. 8, when they travel Georgetown for a 4 p.m., contest with the Hoyas at McDonough Arena.
