PROVIDENCE, R.I. – West Virginia University pitcher Zac Cline was named Big East pitcher of the week after his complete-game performance in a 3-1 victory over Fordham last weekend.
Cline, a sophomore lefthander from Union City, Pa., gave just five hits and struckout three. Cline needed only 93 pitches to finish off the Rams.
Notre Dame second baseman Steve Sollman earned player of the week honors, going 8 for 17 in Notre Dame’s opening week.
West Virginia, 2-3, travels to Knoxville, Tenn., for a two-game series against Tennessee. Saturday’s game will get underway at 1 p.m. and Sunday’s contest will start at 2 p.m.
