SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The West Virginia University women’s tennis team dropped a pair of BIG EAST Conference matches against Connecticut on Saturday, Feb. 15, and Syracuse on Sunday, Feb.16, at Drumlins Tennis Courts. The Mountaineers are now 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the BIG EAST.
WVU fell, 3-4, to the Huskies and Orangemen respectively.
In singles, freshmen Melissa Day and Raynie Theis each went 2-0 on the weekend while senior Anna Marie Underwood and junior Jenny Watkins went 2-0 in doubles.
“We are a young team but we battle hard,” said coach Dan Silverstein. “We know we have wins ahead of us. We had a tough weekend, but we gave a good effort.”
