Women's Basketball: WVU Routs James Madison

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands - Michelle Carter and Sherell Sowho each scored 19 points to lead West Virginia (4-1) to a decisive 89-63 victory over James Madison (1-3) in the Mountaineers' final game of the Paradise Jam women's basketball tournament.
WVU shot 65.5 (19-29) percent in the first half and 56.1 (32-57) percent overall in the matchup. WVU outrebounded the Dukes 37-16.
JMU paced out to a 7-2 advantage in the game's first three minutes. But WVU stormed back with a 19-4 run to make it 21-11 six minutes later to take a lead it would not relinquish.
West Virginia led 53-29 at halftime.
Kate Bulger added 17 points on 6-10 shooting including 5-9 from three point range while Yolanda Paige scored 15 points and contributed four assists.
Sowho was 8-13 from the field and 3-6 from three point range while Carter was 6-10 from the field and 7-10 from the free throw line. She also contributed nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Ashley Dunn recorded a career- and game-high five assists.
James Madison was led by forward Lesley Dickinson who scored 23 points on 9-12 shooting, including 2-3 from the three-point range, and four assists.
Next up for the Mountaineers is a non-conference showdown at Wright State, Thursday, December 4, at 7 p.m., at the Ervin J. Nutter Center.
