MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University wrestling team travels to Annapolis, Md., to take part in the annual Navy Classic on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Halsey Field House.
"The Navy Classic gives us a nice progression after the WVU Open," says head coach Craig Turnbull. "This again gives us another opportunity to have our guys wrestle and receive concrete feedback on where they are at. It is critical in our evaluation so that our guys can make the adjustments as the season continues.”
WVU produced six individual champions en route to a first-place team finish at last year’s Navy Classic. Greg Jones (184) and Ryan Wilman (174) will attempt to defend their tournament titles from a year ago.
Participating teams include The Citadel, Kent State, McDaniel, Navy, UNC Greensboro, North Carolina State, Rutgers and West Virginia. The Mountaineers will send two teams and a few individuals to compete in the tournament. Saturday’s action begins at 9 a.m.
WVU next competes at the Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 5-6.
