MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University football team cracked the AP Top 25 for the first time this year, ranking 25th in the most recent poll released Sunday.
WVU (6-4) broke into the rankings after defeating No. 16-rated Pitt 52-31 last Saturday night at Mountaineer Field. West Virginia also owns a win over then No. 3-ranked Virginia Tech and has won five in a row after beginning the season 1-4.
Pittsburgh drops to No. 21 after the loss; other Big East teams ranked this week No. 12 Virginia Tech and No. 13 Miami.
West Virginia just missed cracking the ESPN/USA Today Top 25, earning 62 votes to place 27th.
Meanwhile, it was announced Sunday that West Virginia’s game at Syracuse has been picked up by ESPN2 and is set for a noon kickoff. The ESPN2 crew has yet to be determined.
The Mountaineer Ticket Office is accepting two-for-the-price-of-one coupons for the home finale against Temple on Saturday, Nov. 29. Fans can download a coupon on the Internet by logging on to MSNsportsNET.com or by visiting any United Bank outlet.
