The West Virginia University women's cross country team is set to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the West Branch Cross Country Course in Lock Haven, Pa.
The Mountaineers finished seventh their last time out at the BIG EAST Championships on Oct. 31 in Van Courtlandt Park, N.Y. All-American Megan Metcalfe finished seventh overall while Tara Struyk crossed the line in 12th. Devon Plesuk (36), Jennifer Kemp (48), Jennifer Davis (52), Susan Davis (55) and Rachel Carden (63) also contributed to the WVU effort.
Saturday's race marks the final opportunity of the season for West Virginia to garner enough at large points to qualify for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 24 in Cedar Falls, IA.
"We feel that if we finish in the top four in the region we will solidify a place in the national meet," coach Jeff Huntoon said. "We have had some good practices this week and feel very confident that we will perform well at the regional championship."
Saturday's race is expected to get underway at approximately 12:15 p.m.
