Men's Soccer: WVU Travels to Syracuse

The West Virginia University men's soccer team (4-6-1) will attempt to turn around a two-game losing streak Friday, Oct. 10, against Syracuse (2-6-3) at 7 p.m.
The Orangemen enter the match 0-4-1 in their last five games after a 5-1 loss to Virginia Tech at home. Syracuse has been outscored 18-10 in their 11 games this season.
Sophomore midfielder Ilias Calaitzidis leads Syracuse offensively with three goals. Brossard, Quebec, native has recorded two of the three off of penalty kicks.
In goal sophomore Alim Karim has tallied 43 saves in 10 starts with a goals against average of 1.47. Karim has earned both of the Orangemen's wins.
The men are coming off of a disappointing weekend in Boston, Mass., in which they lost to Northeastern 2-1 and Boston College 2-0.
Mountaineers Jarrod Smith, Aaron Pitchkolan and Devon McTavish are tied for the team lead in goals with three a piece.
Freshman goalkeeper Nick Noble's goals against average remains under one at .81. In 663 minutes of work Noble has saved 25 shots.
The Mountaineers hit the road again on Wednesday, Oct. 15, when they face Virginia. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
