Women's Soccer: WVU to Face St. John's

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The No. 7 West Virginia University women's soccer team (14-3-1, 4-1-1) begins its quest for a BIG EAST championship with a 1 p.m., quarterfinal match against St. John's on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Mountaineer Soccer Complex.
West Virginia is the mid-Atlantic No.2 seed and the Red Storm is the Northeast division No.3 seed.
The Mountaineers are hosting opening round action for the third straight year and WVU faces St. John's in the quarterfinal match for the second consecutive season.
West Virginia is 4-3 all-time in the BIG EAST tournament and has advanced to the championship match in each of the last two seasons.
Earlier this season, West Virginia defeated St. John's 3-2 at the Mountaineer Soccer Complex and the Mountaineers own a 4-2-1 all-time record against the Red Storm.
St. John's is 9-8-1 on the year and is 3-3-0 in conference action.
The winner of Sunday's contest will play the winner of the Connecticut (Northeast No.1 seed) vs. Villanova (Mid-Atlantic No.4 seed) match in the tournament semifinal on Friday, Nov. 7 at Rutgers' Yurcak Field.
