The West Virginia University women's cross country team is set to travel to Van Courtlandt Park, N.Y., on Friday, Oct. 31, to compete in the 2003 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships.
The Mountaineers, ranked 25th in FinishLynx's National Cross Country Poll, will look for a strong finish on Friday to help bolster their chances for a post season birth in the NCAA Championships in late November.
Leading the way for West Virginia is junior All-American Megan Metcalfe. The Edmonton, Alberta, native finished third in last year's BIG EAST Championships and is expected to make a run at this year's individual title. Juniors Tara Struyk, Jennifer Davis, Jennifer Kemp, Devon Plesuk, Rachel Carden and sophomore Susan Davis will be key to WVU's success.
Friday's race is set to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m.
