Women's Soccer: WVU to Host BIG EAST Quarterfinal

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's soccer team (14-3-1, 4-1-1) will play host to St. John's (9-8-1, 3-3-0) in the quarterfinal match of the BIG EAST tournament on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Mountaineer Soccer Complex. Kickoff for the postseason match is set for 1 p.m.
West Virginia is the No.2 seed in the mid-Atlantic division and St. John's is the No.3 seed in the Northeast division. The winner of the match move on to the semifinal match against the winner of the No.4 Villanova vs. No.1 Connecticut contest that will be played in Storrs, Conn., on Sunday as well. Semifinal and final matches of the BIG EAST tournament will be played at Rutger's Yurcak Field on Friday, Nov.7 and Sunday, Nov. 9.
This is the third straight season that the Mountaineers have hosted first round tournament action and the second straight season that WVU has faced St. John's in the tournament's opening match.
Last year, West Virginia defeated St. John's 4-0 en route to its second straight appearance in the BIG EAST championship match.
Ticket prices for the match will remain the same as the regular season: $5 for adults and $3 for youth. WVU students who present their I.D. cards will be admitted free of charge.
