Rowing: WVU Takes Second

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's rowing team's Varsity 8 fell to the U.S. Naval Academy by less than a second, taking second place in the Championship 8 at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday, Oct. 25.
The boat comprised of Michelle Heier, Donna Stullken, Meg Ayers, Kendra Hamilton, Amelia Payne, Kirsten Leslie, Gaetane De La Bourdonnaye, Caitlin Everett and Jess Martini finished the course in a time of 13:50.03. Their time propelled them by third place Fordham by a demanding six seconds.
The squad's Varsity 8 B boat finished in 15th place with a time of 14:59.34, while the Novice 8 B boat took 12th place in the Novice 8 final with a time of 16:00.71. The A Novice 8 boat finished in 17:47.31 for 36th place.
The race concluded their fall rowing schedule. The squad will not hit the water again until March 13, for spring training in Miami, Fla.
