Women's Tennis: WVU Travels to ITA Championships

Four members of the West Virginia University women's tennis team are set to compete in the ITA Championships beginning Friday, Oct. 22 and extending through Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Burrows/Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Va.
Melissa Day, Jennifer Watkins, Ashley Lynn Constantine and Catherine Koontz will compete in what is known as one of the most prestigious fall season tournaments on the east coast. Day will represent the Mountaineers in the No. 1 seed singles division and will team up with Watkins to compete in the No. 1 seed doubles division. The duo of Koontz and Constantine is set to represent WVU in the No. 2 seed doubles division.
"We are really looking forward to competing against some of the best tennis players in the nation," coach Dan Silverstein said. "This will be a great experience for those girls going into the spring season. We have worked hard to prepare for this tournament and are confident we will have success against some of the best players in the nation."
