Brian King's interception in the first was his first interception of the season and fifth of his career. He becomes the seventh different Mountaineer to pick off a pass this season. He intercepted another pass in the third quarter for the sixth of his career.
Josh Bailey's 10-yard reception in the first quarter was the first reception by a tight end this season.
Kay-Jay Harris' seven-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was his third rushing touchdown of the season. West Virginia has now scored the first touchdown of the last three games it has played.

Virginia Tech's 68-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown was the first by a Mountaineer opponent since Kelly Hardy of East Carolina returned one 80 yards on September 28, 2002.
Rasheed Marshall's 93-yard touchdown pass to Travis Garvin in the third quarter is the second-longest pass in Mountaineer history. The longest pass is a 96-yard pass from Ben Williams to Danny Buggs against Penn State in 1973.
The 93-yard touchdown pass is the longest play in Mountaineer Field history. The previous longest was a 83-yard touchdown pass from Rasheed Marshall to Chris Henry last week against Rutgers, and Jake Kelcher to Jay Kearney against Missouri in 1993.
Marshall now has three straight games with at least one pass of 83 yards or more. He had an 83-yard touchdown pass to Chris Henry last week against Rutgers, and an 84-yard pass to Kay-Jay Harris against Miami.
Travis Garvin's 117 yards receiving is the 105th time in school history that a Mountaineer receiver has 100 yards or more receiving in a game. He is the second receiver to do so this season; Chris Henry had 176 yards receiving last week against Rutgers. Garvin's previous best was 60 yards receiving against Cincinnati earlier this season.
Quincy Wilson went over 100 yards rushing for the seventh time in his career and third time this season. Wilson had 177 yards rushing last week against Rutgers, and it is the first time in his career he has rushed for back-to-back 100 yard games in his career.

Wilson now moves into a tie for 11th place all-time in career 100-yard rushing games at West Virginia. Wilson's seven-career 100-yard rushing games ties him with Harry Clarke, Nick Nardacci and Dwayne Woods.

The highest ranked opponent the Mountaineers defeated prior to the Tech game was No. 4 Boston College in 1983 (21-20) and No. 4 Miami in 1993 (17-14). Both occurred in Morgantown.
