MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team will hold its 13th annual alumni weekend on Oct. 17-19, on the WVU campus.
Alumni weekend kicks off with a team meeting at the Jerry West Lounge on Saturday, Oct. 18. Former players can get together to re-live a little of their baseball pasts with old teammates, friends and current Mountaineer baseball players. Former and current Mountaineer players will take the field for a game under the lights at 7 p.m. at Hawley Field.
“The alumni game is a great chance for our former players to meet up with old friends and introduce themselves to our current guys,” says WVU coach Greg Van Zant. “This is one of two games our team can play against outside competition and it’s very competitive.”
On Sunday, Oct. 19, the weekend winds down with the eighth annual marathon baseball game. The Mountaineers will play 100 innings with the first pitch set for 12 Noon at Hawley Field.
The WVU marathon baseball game concludes fall practice for the Mountaineers. The WVU coaching staff will host the fourth annual fall showcase camp on Saturday, Oct. 25.
