Football: ECAC Honors Four

CAPE COAD, MASS. – Four West Virginia University players were named to the 2002 ECAC All-Star football team, it was announced today.
Running back Avon Cobourne and offensive tackle Lance Nimmo were named to the offensive team, while linebacker Grant Wiley and defensive back Angel Estrada were named to the defensive unit.
West Virginia finished the 2002 campaign with a 9-4 record and a berth in the Continental Tire Bowl against Virginia.
Maryland linebacker E.J. Henderson was named the ECAC player of the year and Pittsburgh wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald was honored as the ECAC rookie of the year.
Other Big East players earning a spot on the ECAC All-Star team were Pitt quarterback Rod Rutherford, Pitt lineman Bryan Anderson, Boston College lineman Dan Koppen, Pitt wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and Rutgers tight end L.J. Smith on offense, and Temple defensive tackl Dan Klecko, Pitt defensive end Claude Harriot, Boston College linebacker Josh Ott, Syracuse linebacker Clifton Smith, Rutgers linebacker Gary Brackett, Pitt linebacker Gerald Hayes, Pitt defensive back Torrie Cox and Boston College defensive back Ralph Parent.
BC place kicker Sandro Scirotino and Pitt punter Andy Lee were cited as specialists.
