MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team (10-0) will open conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m., against No.16 Notre Dame (8-3).
Having breezed through non-conference action unblemished, the Mountaineers remain one of four undefeated teams in the nation and look to extend their record-setting win streak with their first-ever win against the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame has won all nine previous meetings between the two schools, most recently edging West Virginia 72-63 last February in South Bend.
Standout guard, junior Kate Bulger enters the game looking to become the 21st Mountaineer to score 1,000 points in her career. Bulger needs one point to eclipse the mark.
Wednesday night's game is the first of two between WVU and the Fighting Irish this season. The Mountaineers will travel to Notre Dame on Saturday, February 1.
West Virginia returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 11, when they play host to No. 22 Villanova at noon.
