MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University's gymnastics team held its annual Blue-Gold intrasquad exhibition meet Sunday afternoon at the WVU Coliseum, with the blue team defeating the gold team by a score of 12-9.
"This was an excellent way for us to kick off the season," Coach Linda Burdette said. "It was a chance for our fans to see some new Mountaineer faces and to see the hard work these ladies have put in at the gym since the fall. It also gives our gymnasts the chance to compete in the Coliseum and get a feel for the upcoming year at home. We're definitely looking forward to this year."
West Virginia, ranked No. 21 in the preaseason National Association of Gymnastics Coaches, opens the 2003 season at East Atlantic Gymnastics League rival Pitt, with Ball State, Saturday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m., at Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh.
